Drop Everything and Stock Up on These Local Products
We won't be able to stay in denial for much longer; summer is coming to an end soon and if you can't take any more pumpkin-spice flavoured foods then don't freak out just yet. We're here for you. Our beloved Vancouver is jam packed talented chefs and food companies that are making food products so flippin' tasty you'll cry silently with joy as you chew.
Here are our top 5 new local products you're going to need to try if you want to live life to the fullest:
Vancouver is having a soft ice cream moment but you'll find us double fisting the Salted Caramel Sea Foam Gelato from Umaluma most days of the week. It's vegan, organic, and it's like a Bruno Mars song in your mouth. Plus, how adorable is their store on East Pender?
We were at an event recently where Julie from Glow Chocolates was sampling her creations. We awkwardly followed her around asking for more samples for 'our friend that was in the bathroom'. We don't know why or how they're so silky and smooth (maybe it's the Naked Coconuts coconut oil she uses?) but it doesn't really matter. What matters is that we have an emergency stash handy the next time we stay in and binge watch Dateline.
Annabella Choi is a plant-based Chef and Sourdough baker who pops up around the city with her heavenly creations. We're including her in this list as sort of a public plea to make some of her baked goods available in stores. We're hearing rumours there might be a vegan cheese coming from her next. We need to make this happen.
We've signed up for her newsletter and are waiting to see what's next with baited breath.
Admittedly, we're amateurs when it comes to hot sauce. But we're branching out and once you add some spice to your life you can't go back! We started by adding Roaster's Habanero Pineapple to our avocado toast before trying it on stir fries and in our soups. Now we're one step closer to our dream of becoming Beyonce by always having hot sauce in our bag.
For us, it's all about the red and rarely anything else. Red wine in the summer, red wine in the winter, and red for any occasion. Lindsay even insisted on red wine as gifts for her baby shower- she didn't need any more baby toys but she did need to stock up after going almost a year with out the sweet taste of red wine invading her mouth.
Thankfully Ursa Major Estate Winery is here and it's heavenly paired with cashew cheese from another local favourite, Blue Heron Creamery. Kristen's also big fan of their thoughtful and meaningful logo too!
